These patterns were designed for WGSN London, a forecast and trendwatch company in Londen, New York and Tokyo. It was part of an international design competition. My design were awarded with the first place and the following words:
"I am writing to you with great pleasure to announce that this season, Josse Willems was the first place winner of our student prints and graphics contest. Everyone agreed that Josse's work was of an exceptional standard. Isham Sardouk was particularly impressed with her style, commenting that her prints would look very much at home in a McQueen collection." - WGSN head office.
This series of patterns is based on a trend named Rational. This trend is all about the beauty of nature and science, with its formulas, wires and linear shapes. It is very minimalistic, complex and geometric, inspired by science.
Work: Research, Concept & Design
My inspiration for the patterns comes from dragonfly wings and mathematical formulas, converted into graphic lines and figures. I combine exisiting images, photography and graphic design. All the patterns are made in photoshop and illustrator.
